Lose Weight with Fish Oil and Moderate Exercise
Fish oil consumption has become a common thing in today’s diet-conscious world. Fish oil is extracted from the tissues of oily fish and contains Omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). They help to reduce inflammation throughout the body.
Before you consider fish oil containing Omega-3 with the purpose of losing weight you need to visit your doctor and have him check your general health, and see whether there is a shortage of Omega 3 in your system. Never add any fish oil to your diet without the consent of your doctor.
Basically the fatty acids that are contained in fish oil, Omega-3 fatty acids help to lower triglycerides, bad cholesterol and high blood pressure. The body is not a source of these fatty acids in any way and therefore this has to come from other sources like fish oil. Omega-3 fatty acids also help weight loss.
Omega 3 fatty acids are mainly sourced from fish oil. Plant sources for these useful fatty acids are from flaxseed and hemp oils. They reduce blood pressure greatly if taken in large quantities, but as they contain saturated fats, plant sources for Omega-3 are not considered for weight loss. Fish oil is preferred.
A diet needs nutritional supplements if it is for weight loss. Fish oil with its content of Omega-3 is considered good for health and is therefore recommended for people who are on a weight loss diet.
Doubts have been expressed about the efficacy of Omega-3 fish oil for losing weight. This supplement has no side effects and is considered safe. It does benefit the heart, lowers triglycerides and cholesterol and will help you if you want to lose weight. You need about 300mg to 400 mg per day, and you would be advised to read the labels on your fish oil capsule container to judge the mg content of each of the pills. What is normally suggested is 3 to 4 pills a day.
Instead of fish oil you can source the Omega-3 fatty acids from tofu, beans, walnuts and Omega-3 enriched eggs. There are some people who are vegetarians and may consider this advice useful.
You can also get high grade of fish oil supplements. Such oil is obtained after being distilled with the molecular process to remove all toxins and impurities. There is a risk that fish can contain mercury and other pollutants especially if the source is from fish farms. The seas of New Zealand are considered very pure and the Hoki fish that are in abundance there, are considered to yield high grade fish oil.
Published research findings have shown that a daily dosage of six grams of fish oil which contains Omega-3 fatty acids, combined with moderate exercise can contribute to significant weight loss.
The exercise can be a moderate 45 minutes of brisk walking or be running. We suggest however that you do take the advice of your doctor before you start this regime of fish oil and exercise. This is just to ensure that your body conditions do not contraindicate these suggested supplements.
